Alasdair and Patricia extend a warm welcome to our new Bed and Breakfast which sits on the shore of Loch Alsh. The main double bedroom has superb views across Loch Alsh. There is also a single/twin room. The garden, which you are welcome to use, has direct access to the shore via a small gate. We offer easy guided walks, and creativity retreats too.

The Locality

I (Alasdair) have extensive local knowledge, both the immediate locality of Avernish and Nostie, and the wider area. I can provide annotated maps of beautiful local walks.

Sometimes overlooked as a holiday destination because of nearby Skye, the Loch Alsh area in itself is truly worth a full holiday.

We are just 10 miles from the famous picturesque village of Plockton by Loch Carron, and 10 miles from Shiel Bridge for climbing the famous Kintail Ridge and Five Sisters of Kintail. Eilean Donan Castle at Dornie, is just 3 miles. The Skye Bridge is 8 miles.

Ideal for Longer Stays

We welcome longer stay bookings, offering progressively lower rates the longer you stay. Please note that we do NOT take 1 or 2 night stay bookings, in order to ensure there is room for longer stay bookings, and to give ourselves some rest in between!

Direct access to the garden

  • Use of your room during the day
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Free clothes washing and drying on request
  • Workers welcome

The Dining Area

The dining area also has views across Loch Alsh. We provide a delicious range of food using, as far as possible, healthy, wholefood, organic, free range, locally sourced and Fair Trade products, as well as the popular favourites. Breakfast times are completely flexible. You can have breakfast as late as you like!

Places to sit in the garden

As well as discounts for longer stays, there are reductions during the winter, spring and autumn, and also for single occupancy. As the rooms presently only have a shared shower-room and toilet, the prices are set at a low rate for longer stays. We are very flexible about arrival and departure times and we allow you to use your room during the day. More information on prices.

The house is conveniently situated less than a mile from the main A87 road to Skye, 2 miles west of Dornie and 1 mile east of Auchtertyre where the A890 road from the north joins the A87. We are 8 miles east of Kyle of Lochalsh and the Skye Bridge. Although near the main road, the house is well tucked away behind a hill so that you are not aware of being near the A87. Please click here for a map.

It is also situated on the main Citylink bus routes from Glasgow to Skye (via Fort William), and from Inverness to Skye (via Loch Ness). There is an ideally situated bus stop at the corner of the minor road leading to the house. More details about public transport
